Filling The Gap recruits volunteer dentists to work with Aboriginal communities which lack access to basic dental treatment. We work in partnership with community controlled Aboriginal health services, and since we began in 2006 have placed over 260 dental professionals in services in Qld, NSW and NT. Our dentists have provided over 11,000 appointments, which equals a great deal of pain relief, improved overall health and general well being.
Filling the Gap is a small independent charity with an active, hands-on Board of dentists, Indigenous academics and community advocates. We also have a part time CEO.
Urgent funds are required to support our current work at locations in NSW and to ensure ongoing expansion and innovation to other sites across Australia.
